Abriachan Forest Trust
£7,500 To contribute to the cost of employing a ranger to deliver hands-on activities, increase participation and improve environmental knowledge.
Suzann Barr: “Thanks to funding from Great Glen Energy Cooperative, the nature restoration programme, as well as the facilities in Abriachan’s community woodland, have benefited greatly from our on-site ranger, Ewan Fenelon. He has worked hard on various maintenance and repair tasks, organised a full programme of events, guided walks and contributed to lots of citizen science recording of the improved biodiversity of our local environment; including a BioBlitz with more than 250 different species spotted in 24 hours. All of these activities have meant school groups, individual pupils, families on holiday and other people who have visited or volunteered this year have participated in, learned about and hopefully gone away with plans to replicate our nature-based activities elsewhere.”
